Life can be stressful. Whether it’s work, family matters, or just everyday things.
Sometimes our fears and emotions get the best of us. Staying calm and in control would allow us to think clearly and find a solution. But that is easier said than done.
I have always struggled with this personally. Whether it’s getting angry or being paralyzed by fear. The one thing that has helped me more than anything is competition. Especially martial arts competition.
Competition is a way that we can put ourselves in a stressful situation to develop the skills to control those emotions. Every time I compete I get better at handling everyday situations. It's not always fun and games though. Sometimes we lose and
no one wants to lose. But that is life. We can’t always win. But there is always something to gain from defeat. Losing can hurt our pride but always remember “defeat is a state of mind”. Keep your head up and don’t lose the lesson.
Competition can definitely be fun though. I’ve made many friends through competition. I’ve also made some memories that will be with me forever.
So to those who train martial arts or to those who are thinking about it, I say ”get some” you will not regret it. It will help you in so many ways. And you will not be alone, you and your teammates compete as a family. Here at Gladiators Academy of Crowley we are a band of brothers and sisters you might say.
